We hope this will be a place for like-minded folk who live, love to visit, or like Wales.

Our intention is for Taste Inn Wales to evolve into a community-based website for anyone interested in what’s going on, in and around the Brecon Beacons, who share an interest in food, wine, well being and general nice stuff!

Fresh air fanatics

After this summer’s Tour de France and Olympic triumphs ‘Wiggomania’ has undoubtedly sent many of us reaching for our lycra and investing in shiny new bikes.

We recently joined in with the fantastic annual balloon festival in Llandovery. We had lots of balloonists staying here at The Castle and couldn't resist popping in and out to watch the elegant things gently wafting overhead. How serene and beautiful they are, silently floating with only the gentle wooshing sound as the burners keep them airborne. Amazingly calming.

The sun is coming out, the temperature is rising and we feel that Spring is on the horizon. People are starting to venture out again and we think its worth extolling the virtues of Llandovery as its a veritable hub of activity, increasingly attracting visitors due to its unique location right at the heart of the mountains, rivers and forests of South West Wales. The longer we spend here at The Castle, the more we keep uncovering, the more impressed we become.

Taste Inn Wales are putting a 'team' together to compete in this years' Dragon Ride - the annual cycle in our backyard across South Wales and the Brecon Beacons. It'll be a family affair, with Taste Inn Wales co-owners Sean Gerrard and Jessica Bridgeman taking part. This fantastic charity ride where riders choose and ride various distances - 206km; 125km or 37km - up Wales' biggest mountain roads, is supported by Olympic champ and fellow Welshman Geraint Thomas.

The Brecon Beacons has been a long loved mountain bike destination for years, but recently has really moved up several gears to offer the complete package for weekend warriors. Upgraded trails and new routes, we've got outstanding facilities all set in the beautiful and wild Brecon hills. Its got the lot, ride open forests, bone shaking moorland, steep climbs and hairy descents.

It was over a couple or more glasses of red wine with friends over Christmas that it was decided to enter the largest U.K cycle sportive The Dragon ride

There are many trails and routes in the Beacons for cyclists, with varying lengths and difficulty to suit you. We have somewhere to securely store your bikes during your stay. If you do not have a bike we have a number of good quality road and mountain bikes for residents use.
