Our Farm

Glaisfer Uchaf is a small hill farm, situated a couple of miles outside the village of Llangynidr. We have about 100 acres of land that adjoins Llangynidr mountain.

Over recent years it has become increasingly difficult for small family farms to survive. The days of taking lambs to market and hoping for a good price are long gone.

We knew that the quality of our meat was excellent and therefore decided to market our meat directly. With help from the Welsh Development Agency, we built and equipped a meat cutting room and small poultry processing area on the farm.

We began supplying the Nantyffin Cidermill Inn with our lamb, over 5 years ago and, working in close partnership with all the chefs within the Taste Inn Wales Group, we have now expanded our range of produce to include pork, Aylesbury ducks, ‘Sasso Free Range’ chickens, Aberdeen Angus beef and guinea fowl.

Our strength is that we all share the same philosophy about food – both here on the farm and in our restaurants. Great food starts with the best raw materials. All our animals are fed on a diet based upon cereals and are allowed to mature slowly, and all at less than 7 miles from farm to plate – you can’t get more local than that.

A claim that is, we believe, unique in the area and one of the main reasons that our restaurants maintain such high praise from customers and reviewers alike.
